Kimberly Peterson has her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Memphis. She owned and operated Encore Performing Arts Academy in Bartlett, TN in the late 1990’s. In 2000, Kim moved to Gainesville, FL, where she taught private voice lessons for 20 years at the Academy of Music and Art. She formerly taught as an adjunct voice teacher at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL and Lake City Community College in Lake City, FL. In early 2020, Kim launched her online voice studio “Miss Kim’s Virtual Voice Studio” where she teaches students from all over the United States. Her private online voice students compete in talents shows, perform in musicals, sing with live bands, perform at community service events, perform in Zoom recitals, and participate in video singing projects. She has taken local groups of singers to perform at Disney World, as well as attend Master classes with Disney performers. Kim has worked closely with Skylab, a local state of the art recording studio, where her students record covers and original songs. Kim has performed in local theaters, such as Gainesville Community Playhouse, Star Center, and Actor’s Warehouse. She was seen as Mrs. Potts in Beauty and The Beast, Clairee in Steel Magnolias, and Mother Superior in Sister Act. In August 2018, Kim was seen as Mazeppa in Gypsy, where she won a Golden Apple for her performance.
All singers are welcomed at Miss Kim’s Virtual Voice Studio. Kim teaches all ages, all skill levels, and many different styles of music. She teaches proper classical vocal technique, then applies that technique to different styles of music. Students work on properly warming up the voice, breathing, phrasing, stage presence, and many more facets of the singing voice. Voice health is of utmost importance to Kim, and she helps singers stay vocally healthy while performing. Lessons are customized to each singer’s age and skill level. She helps students find their own unique singing voice, and develop it to the highest skill level.
